China recognizes the significance of a strong mineral industry on its economic future, and that in recent years domestic supplies of necessary mineral commodities have failed to meet requirements of economic expansion. During the recent past, measures have been attempted to "reformulate" China's mineral policy system to promote mineral development in order to aid in the achievement of its national economic and social development objectives.
