Terry B. Cosgrove (Helena)
Mr. Cosgrove became affiliated with the firm beginning January of 2009 as an Of Counsel partner. Terry comes to the firm after serving as Executive Vice President and General Counsel for Blue Cross Blue Shield of Montana for the past eight years. While at Blue Cross he, in addition to being General Counsel, was at different times responsible for the operations, audit, corporate governance and compliance, human resources, governmental affairs and public relations for the company. Prior to joining Blue Cross, Mr. Cosgrove, who has 37 years of practice in Montana, was a partner at Crowley, Haughey, Hanson, Toole & Dietrich. Mr. Cosgrove is a member of the Montana State Bar.
He has been an Adjunct Instructor of both Criminal Justice and Constitutional Law at Carroll College, has lectured at the New York University Institute on State and Local Taxation and has authored numerous articles on state taxation issues. While in private practice he has represented a large variety of clients including multinational corporations on state and local tax matters, mergers and acquisitions of multi-state business operations, business corporations from organization to restructuring, all aspects of real estate transactions, health insurance matters including regulatory filings and compliance. Mr. Cosgrove is a member of the Montana State Bar and is admitted to practice before the U.S. Supreme Court and the federal courts in Montana. He continues to be active in civic and community affairs. He is a former Chair of the Helena School Board, Helena Public Library, Shodair Hospital and presently serves as a trustee for Carroll College.
