Peter G. Scott (Helena) Peter Scott became a partner in 2008. He is licensed to practice law in Montana, Idaho, Oregon and Washington. Peter is a registered lobbyist in Montana and serves as regulatory, litigation and general counsel for private, corporate, non-profit and governmental entities throughout the Columbia River Basin. Before coming to GSJW in 2007, Peter worked in the Spokane office of Preston, Gates & Ellis. His practice emphasizes government relations, land use, water rights and natural resources.

Prior to attending law school, Peter worked as a hydrogeologist in Bozeman, Montana. He and his wife Suzan left Montana in 1996 so that he could attend law school in Portland, Oregon. Before entering private practice, Peter spent two years clerking for Chief Justice Paul DeMuniz of the Oregon Supreme Court.

Peter sits on the boards of the Helena YMCA and the Friends of the Teton River. He is Secretary to the Northwest Mining Association. Peter is a United States Navy veteran, where he served as a nuclear power plant operator on a fast-attack submarine and later as a deep-sea diver.
