Jon Metropoulos (Helena)
Jon Metropoulos, a partner with the firm, concentrates his practice in the areas of Federal Indian law, natural resources, administrative law, health care law, and government relations. This practice involves complex litigation in state and federal courts and administrative agencies. He also has experience in general defense litigation and construction law.
Jon is a member of Gough, Shanahan’s Government Relations Group, which provides lobbying and other governmental-related services to the firm’s clients at the state and federal levels. Jon has represented clients in Montana District Courts, the Montana Supreme Court, the United States Supreme Court, the United States District Court for the District of Montana, the United States Court of Federal Claims, the United States Courts of Appeals for the Ninth and Federal Circuits, and the Confederated Salish & Kootenai and the Blackfeet Tribal Courts. He has also practiced in numerous state and federal administrative agencies, including frequent appearances before the Montana Public Service Commission. Clients comment that he is "aware of all the issues." Having lobbied at both state and federal levels, Jon has a particular specialty in the legislative area and is a significant figure in the market for his water law work. Jon is an active member of the Montana Bar Association and the American Bar Association and has written and lectured on Indian law and federal environmental laws.
