Dennis R. Lopach (Helena)
Born and raised in Great Falls, Dennis, a partner with the firm, spent several years as Chief Legal Counsel for the Montana Public Service Commission, before entering private practice in Helena. In 1984, Dennis joined the legal department of Mountain Bell, which later became US WEST. In 1992, he and his family relocated to Denver, where he held a number of management positions in the US West Law Department. Dennis moved to Atlanta in 1996 to become Vice President-Legal and Regulatory Affairs for MediaOne, US WEST's cable television and broadband Internet access venture.
Dennis returned to Montana in 2001 to provide government relations services for NorthWestern Corporation, particularly in the Montana Legislature and to provide representation on a range of energy issues. Following completion of NorthWestern’s purchase of the Montana Power Company in 2002, he became Senior Vice President-Administrative Services for NorthWestern Energy, with responsibility for legal affairs, communications, regulatory, government relations, and human resources. Dennis left NorthWestern in January 2005 to practice administrative and regulatory law in Helena. His primary interests are energy and telecommunications law, tax policy and complex public policy issues. He brings his extensive experience in state and federal government relations and administrative litigation to the firm’s Government Relations Group. Having spent many years in corporate life as a client of law firms across the United States, Dennis focuses on finding cost-effective and innovative solutions for his clients.
