Thomas E. Hattersley, III (Helena)
Mr. Hattersley, a partner with the firm, advises and represents clients in litigation matters involving labor and employment law, worker safety and workplace tort claims, products liability, and insurance coverage and defense. Tom’s employment practice covers all aspects of employment law, including wrongful discharge, discrimination and civil rights claims, wage and hour law, safety compliance, and drug testing in the workplace. He has been practicing in the area of employment law for two decades and represents a variety of industrial and commercial employers.
Before joining Gough, Shanahan in 1984, Tom was associated with the Los Angeles firm of Bodkin, McCarthy, Sargent and Smith. Tom is admitted to practice in both the state and federal courts in Montana, the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals, and the United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia. He is also admitted to practice before the United States Supreme Court. Tom is a member of both the State Bar of Montana and the State Bar of California. He is an active member of both the Section of Labor and Employment Law, and Tort and Insurance Practice Section of the American Bar Association. Tom is a frequent lecturer before industrial and employer groups concerning employment, safety, and workplace tort issues.
