David C. Dalthorp (Helena) Dave has been a member of the firm since 1993, and he became a partner at the firm in 1998. His practice focuses on insurance defense, employment, civil rights and school litigation. David is experienced at representing schools, businesses and individuals at all stages of litigation, discovery, motions practice, trial and the appellate level.

Prior to his association with Gough, Shanahan, David clerked for Justice R.C. McDonough of the Montana Supreme Court. During law school, he served on the Public Land Law Review (1991-1992).

David is admitted to practice before the Montana Supreme Court, the United States District Court for the District of Montana and the Ninth Circuit. He is a member of the Montana Bar Association and the American Bar Association as well as a Fellow of the National Institute of Trial Advocacy.
