Julianne C. Burkhardt (Helena)
Ms. Burkhardt’s practice focuses on labor and employment law, insurance defense and coverage issues and personal injury. She advises employers on a broad range of issues primarily dealing with personnel issues and policies. She also litigates wrongful discharge, discrimination and harassment claims at both the administrative level and in state and federal courts.
Before joining Gough, Shanahan, Johnson & Waterman, Julianne practiced in Bozeman and Helena. She practiced primarily in the areas of personal injury, construction litigation and criminal defense. She also completed a clerkship with the Honorable Mike Salvagni, in the Eighteenth Judicial District Court, Gallatin County. While in law school she was active in the Student Bar Association and the Environmental Law Group. She is an active member of the Montana State Bar and a member of the Montana Trial Lawyers Association (MTLA). She served on the board of directors of the MTLA from 2001-2004. Julianne currently serves as a member of the Montana Supreme Court Advisory Commission on the Rules of Civil and Appellate Procedure and as the Chair of the Montana Supreme Court Commission on Gender Fairness. Julianne is admitted to practice before the Montana Supreme Court, the U.S. District Court for Montana and the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals. Julianne has served on the boards of directors for Big Brothers, Big Sisters of Gallatin County; Alcohol and Drug Services of Gallatin County; and the Gallatin County Bar Association. She is an active member of St. Peter’s Episcopal Cathedral and currently serves as a Eucharistic Minister and Visitor.
